In July 2019, New York Pizza blanketed public bus stops and TV channels across the Netherlands, with billboard and film ads, featuring a naked woman holding and massaging a pair of cauliflowers in front of her breasts.

After a flood of complaints from the public, the Stichting Reclame Code (Advertising Code Committee) issued a ruling, saying that this advertisment contravened standards of good taste and decency.

Action

We believe that such advertising has NO ROLE in public spaces that are accessible to children, especially in 2019.

To combat the negative effects of gender stereotyping in the media, and to shine a spotlight on the gratuitous exploitation of women's bodies..

..we let loose and created a WILD feminist spoof film!!

Our launch event on gender stereotypes in the media took place on 6/12/19, and included our first-ever public screening of the film, co-hosted by the director of Bloemkool Pizza, Xing Chen, and writer and coach Mariette Reineke, and featured panel discussions with the team members. 'Bloemkool Pizza' is a kick-ass feminist short film that makes fun of gender stereotypes and turns the objectification of women's bodies on its head, using attention-grabbing, convention-smashing humour to address a contentious topic. Resources

Many brands and businesses are starting to realize the importance of inclusivity and positive messaging in their products and advertising. Why alienate potential customers when you could win them over with social awareness?

In fact, there is now a wealth of resources for companies to draw on, including experts in gender-neutral content creation, consultancy firms, and research institutes. All of whom are dedicated to achieving gender balance and equal representation.

Do right by your customers, engage good advisors!

We envision a future in which younger generations can reach their full potential, freed from gender bias and prejudice.
